Simplify in order to have stress free life

Aug 15th, 2010 Posted in Stress Relief Tips | no comment »

To make your home life less stressful and calmer for you, simplify your home.
It’s the easiest thing you can do to ensure your time at home is relaxing.
Wouldn’t you rather be enjoying your time at home, rather than doing chores.
Get rid of clutter-if you don’t use something (or haven’t used it for months), get rid of it (donate it, sell it, do something with it-but get rid of it).
The less clutter you have, the less cleaning you have to do which leads to more free time and free space.
Shop in bulk, that way you don’t have to get stressed going to the store often and unpacking items often after shopping. Do it once in bulk and get it over and done with for an extended period of time.
Cut down on doing laundry (you can wear clothes more than one time – unless you stain them).
Hire someone to do the yard work (unless doing it keeps you mellow and is an escape thus helping you relieve any stress or anxiety you may experience–then by all means, you keep doing it).

What other things can you think of to simplify your home life?

No Stress Money Issues

Sep 7th, 2009 Posted in General information | no comment »

Many people get stressed over financial issues (seems more so now than before due to economic situations right now). You don’t need to, nor should you allow money issues to stress you.

Here are a few tips on being able to deal with money issues in a no stress manner.

  • Before making a purchase ask yourself “Do I really want/need this” and “is this thing worth the time it took me to earn the money to pay for it“.
  • Make a budget…know exactly what comes in and what your expenditures are.
  • Save money in a separate account for “emergency use” and don’t touch it unless absolutely needed. Build your financial cushion.
  • Live within your means. This is a biggie! It’s basic math, if you spend more than you make you’re going to be running in a negative all the time.
  • Don’t use credit cards, pay cash for everything or use debit card (same as cash). If you must use credit cards, use those with the best interest rates and/or bonus points/incentives.
  • Erase your debt. Obviously you may still incur a mortgage, possibly a car payment. Credit cards should be paid and rid yourself of that monthly stressor of credit card debt. When you have no debt, you’ll be amazed at the weight lifted from your shoulders.
  • Stay positive and do what is right when it comes to making money and make sure to give, donate to others as well

Things happen in life that are unforeseen, so be prepared for those situations but don’t live a life stressed out over money. Don’t let money dictate the type of life you have. We all want more money, but if you’re still going to spend more than you make or have you’ll be exactly where you are now…stressed. Learn to live with money and appreciate it and what you can accomplish and do with it, but don’t let it stress you.

“Money is like manure; it’s not worth a thing unless it’s spread around encouraging young things to grow.” ~ Thornton Wilde

“Never spend your money before you have it” ~ Thomas Jefferson

Voice mail

Some people seem to let their phones rule their lives.
This can lead to a lot of unnecessary stress in your life.

Don’t let your phone dictate your life or schedule.

Let a call go to voice mail and pick up your messages at a later point when it’s more convenient.

I have different ring tones for my kids and family members so I can tell if it’s a call I have to take or if it’s just a random call that can easily wait until I’m ready to deal with it.

It’s less stressful when you don’t let your phone rule your life.

Stress Relief Tip for Kids: Yoga, Deep Breathing

Feb 17th, 2009 Posted in Stress Relief Tips | no comment »

Yes kids get stressed.
Kids from preschool aged to elementary and teens…they all have stress factors in their lives.

Kids usually enjoy yoga…it enables them to release by doing something that’s healthy, helps with strength and flexibility.

You can also encourage your children to take deep belly breaths when they begin to get anxious, fearful or nervous. Deep breaths signal the body that all’s fine, relieves muscle tension, returns heart rates to normal.

The deep belly breathing will help children of all ages. It’s a good practice even in adulthood.

Stress Relief Tip: Delegate Tasks

Feb 6th, 2009 Posted in Stress Relief Tips | one comment »

An easy stress relief tip is to delegate chores or tasks to someone else if they upset you or frustrate you. The effects of stress aren’t worth it. It’ll be better for you, if you can, to delegate some of the daily annoyances to others.

Delegate: verb: To entrust to the care or management of another; to transfer; to assign; to commit.

Yes, that’s right…

you do not have to do it all yourself.

If there’s a task you don’t enjoy or don’t know how to do, delegate it to someone else.

From ironing to computer work…you can save yourself stress, aggravation, time and even money by having someone else do those tasks.

I personally have not ironed anything, nor do I have any desire or inclination to iron. At 41 yrs of age, I am glad that I’ve never had to take on this task. I see and hear too many people who seem to be glued to their ironing board after work and well, I can think of  better things I could be doing with my time than spending it ironing. If I ever wore anything that absolutely had to be ironed I’d probably pay someone to do it. The time and frustration just wouldn’t be worth it in the long run.

The time you spend doing housework or ironing, etc. you’re missing out on time with family, children, friends or whatever you truly enjoy. So, sometimes the money spent to have someone else do these things is well worth it.

If you’re the type who has to have a spotless house but yet you work 40+ hrs a week, have a family and want to enjoy time with them consider having someone else do the house cleaning for you. $40/week or whatever cleaning people charge  can give you more free time…don’t you think that it’d be worth it instead of getting upset about having to do things that are mundane but yet need done.

Another area where you can delegate is technical support, computer issues, installing WP themes, installing forums, doing scripts, etc.

Rather than bang your head against the wall and spend countless hours attempting to figure out scripts, installations, etc. it may be well worth it to hire a technical person. I know I could not live without mine! Just ask her at technicalconfusion.com, she’ll tell you. I’d much rather pay her to do things that I have no clue about than to have me waste countless hours if not days trying to figure it out. It makes more sense to have her do it and have it done quickly and done right! I know people who will spend most of the day trying to figure out wrong html, an incorrect script, etc. or how to install WP theme and yet they could’ve been working & making money during that time rather than waste it on something that they could pay someone to do. I mean do the math…you waste all day trying to figure out something and let’s say you make $150/day, it might cost you $50 to pay someone else to do the job, so you would have still earned $100/profit for the day and saved yourself a lot of stress, aggravation and frustration…money well spent!

So, next time you feel yourself getting stressed over things you think you have to do, or beating yourself up…consider delegating it to someone else!

Stress Buster Tip: Stay away from triggers

Jan 4th, 2009 Posted in Stress Relief Tips | no comment »

Know your stress triggers and avoid them.

If you know you don’t like driving in traffic, don’t.
Plan your driving route on lesser traveled roads or at non rush hour times so you can drive and remain calm.
If you can’t avoid rush hour traffic, then perhaps listen to some calming music or pray while you drive to not get stressed over the traffic.

If a conversation about politics, religion, green subjects, global warming, consumerism, recession, finances or any other topic is too overwhelming for you..avoid those conversations. These are usually hot topics for many and get people riled.

If you’re not appreciated at work and are “stressing” over situations…stop.
Don’t let it get to you and affect you adversely.
Do your job and once away from work, don’t dwell on things…let it go until tomorrow when you’re back on the job.

If crowds and gatherings send you into panic attacks, avoid them.
If you were to go to a concert and be amongst thousands of screaming people, you may miss out on the enjoyment if you’re too busy being stressed and annoyed with the people around you.

If you’re sound and smell sensitive, a trip to a crowded mall may send you into a frenzy. The aromas, fragrances, noise of blaring music in stores, people talking, kids screaming can all be stressful. If people stampeding and pushing to get a sale bother you…avoid the mall…shop online. Shopping online is much easier on a person…no traffic, no crowds, no noise, no smells, no stress.

Learn and acknowledge what your stress triggers are and avoid them.
Just stop doing things that you find annoying, stressful or upset you.

Stress Buster Tip: Cut your to do list

Jan 4th, 2009 Posted in Stress Relief Tips | no comment »

If you want to cut instant stress in your life, cut your to-do list.
Don’t think you can?
It’s easy.
Delegate some of the items to someone else.
For the items you can’t delegate, ask yourself these questions:
Is it life or death if I don’t get something done today?
Will I die tomorrow if all the listed items aren’t accomplished?

If you answered no, then don’t stress over it…
If it gets done, great.
If not, there’s always tomorrow.
Now, that doesn’t mean to procrastinate about items either which can lead to stress when you are up against a time frame to complete items. There’s a happy medium. Find that balance and you’ll be able to get everything done and not stress over it.
